Seal Oil for the Treatment of Canine Osteoarthritis
Scientific Title: Seal Oil for the treatment of canine osteoarthritis – a randomized controlled double blinded clinical trial in dogs
Study Investigator: Dr. Adronie Verbrugghe
Graduate Student: Brooklynn Liversidge (PhD)
Osteoarthritis (OA) in dogs is a progressive joint disease that affects mobility and quality of life. Many owners use omega-3 supplements like fish oil, but rising demand is straining Canada’s fish supply. This study explores Canadian seal oil as a sustainable omega-3 alternative. It will assess seal oil’s tolerance in dogs and its effects on pain, movement, and inflammation.
Financial incentives are available. This study is partially funded by The Fur Institute of Canada.
